When Dov Charney Cries
The FABNOB Family loves American Apparel.
They do, after all, make some great t-shirt blanks.
But with the AA brand comes Founder / CEO Dov Charney - a hyper-sexed, 40-year-old Canadian who looks (and acts) like he has just stepped off the set of a 1970s porno.
New reports focus on his alleged attempts to purge American Apparel of ugly retail staff members - whom he apparently blames for recent sales woes (rather the global financial crisis!).
The GAWKER claims that Charney asked managers from poor performing stores to send in staff group photos so he could critique their physical appearance - and then encouraged managers to fire those who didn't possess the 'AA aesthetic.'
In other words...FIRE THE UGLIES!
Charney denies the reports - but does anyone believe him?
The man with mutton-chops has a history of micro-managing...and his affections for "hot ass" have been well documented.
This is a horny cat who actively recruits employees, pornstars, and girls he meets on the street to pose for AA's racy advertising campaigns - and yes, he often takes the photos.

Charney is also known for hitting on employees, having photos of topless Polynesian women in his office, and prancing around work in his underwear ("There is no evidence to say that you can't walk around in your underwear all day anywhere in the United States of America!").
Charney has endured three sexual harassment lawsuits from former staff members - one of which was settled out of court. Keith Fink, an attourney for one of the claimants, noted that the work environment at American Apparel "makes Animal House look like choir practice."
Charney has also masturbated in front of a female journalist - albeit with her consent.
Charney's fans argue that he is an unconventional and raw genius who deserves some latitude considering his impulses have helped establish the world's most successful clothing company.
One former model has even thanked Charney for giving her a vibrator ("Anyone who thinks getting a guaranteed orgasm as a gift is gross is lying").
So how is it going to all unfold? Time, and perhaps lawsuits, will tell.
