Imaginary Foundation Rocks the Nation

The Imaginary Foundation is a think-tank from Switzerland that has been pushing the boundaries of t-shirt design since 2002. Their uplifting designs - mostly brought to fruition by San Fran-based graphic artist Nick Phillip - rock our collective jocks!

An interview with the secretive Director of Imaginary Foundation by t-shirt journal T-World reveals why the label focuses on hope and beauty rather than irony and negativity:

"The Imaginary Foundation is future-focused, and always has been, so we're exploring what comes after we push through the darkness, we're already reveling in the beauty on the other side of the looking glass. And believe me, it's wonderful. Living creatively and joyfully, requires dismissing gloom, defeatism, and negativism. We acknowledge problems, but we do not allow them to dominate our thinking and our direction. So we prefer to be for rather than against, to create solutions rather than to protest against what exists. There are things worth believing in, there are things worth being passionate about and so our action must not be a reaction but a creation. For ideas catch the dewdrops and reflect the cosmos, so let those ideas be noble, let them be poetic and let them be beautiful."

The FABNOB Family is proud to support this amazing brand in Australia. IF's timeless t-shirts absolutely kill it!

Size Matters

Yes, it's true. Size matters!

Nobody wants to fork out the Benjamin$ for a ill-fitting tee that could substitute as a bed sheet!

We've recently introduced brand size charts in our Customer Service section, and we thought we would elaborate further....

All t-shirts sold by FABNOB are made in the USA on high-quality sweatshop-free materials. No dodgy Asian imports prone to holes after your second wash!

Superior quality is reflected in the price...but the benefits are considerable.

The majority of our brands print on American Apparel - and when they do this is explicitly stated on individual product pages.

To shop with the confidence of Madonna scouting for a new kid in Malawi simply learn what t-shirt size you fit in AA - and buy according to this size.

You can find American Apparel in our online shop or at most major department stores, including David Jones.

American Apparel tees rock. They're soft, slim fitting, and breathe exceptionally well.

They do, however, fit half a size up from traditional Australian sizes...

If you usually fit a 'made in China' small, you will most likely fit an American Apparel small - although if you are really short you might find the tees marginally long.

If you usually fit an 'made in China' medium, you will most likely fit an American Apparel medium - unless you are on the smaller side of medium (try an American Apparel small).

If you usually fit a 'made in China' large, you will fit an American Apparel medium or large - base your decision on which side of large you fall.

And if you usually fit a 'made in China' extra-large, you will most likely fit an American Apparel large - unless you are on the large side of extra-large.

You can also compare the measurements of your best fitting tee to our brand size charts. Lie your favourite tee on a table and measure the highest point to the lowest point, along with underarm to underarm (refer diagram).

All tees can be returned for refund or exchange within 30 days - and we will pay the postage for the substituted tee! Snap!

Happy shopping, mofos!

The Great T-shirt Robbery

T-Bar, you are going straight to T-shirt Hell!

The FABNOB Crew recently spotted a disgraceful tee rip-off by Melbourne retailer T-Bar.

The t-shirt in question is the immensely popular Mr Owl Tee by US label Deter...and the visual evidence against T-Bar is rather compelling...

Even worse, T-Bar submitted the lifted tee to the Fashion Journal to be featured in their 'Tee Time' section!

T-Bar is a serial copyright infringer. Their modus operandi seems to involve lifting popular designs from overseas labels such as Local Celebrity, printing them in Asia on inferior materials, and selling them through their Melbourne outlets to unsuspecting consumers.

Their lame-ass defence?

Whoops, we didn't know.

Yep, this how T-Bar Co-owner Andrea Vidal explained another blatant rip to Lifelounge readers...

"We get a lot of our designs from people like you - in other words, the average customer. As hard as we do try to check where their submissions come from, every so often, one will slip through unnoticed. Rest assured, we hate it when this happens too."

WHATEVER!

TRY A LITTLE HARDER!

T-Bar's conduct is unethical and unlawful, and SOMEBODY must take a stand.

Watch this space....

Update 1st Apri1 2009 - T-Bar has removed the ripped tees from sale. Their prompt handling of the matter has been appreciated.

Update 27 Feb 2010 - Another stolen t-shirt design of a Deter classic has been spotted - this time by the online fashion store ASOS. The similarities between the two t-shirts is plain to see...

Here's 2 you, Kelly Tu!

Fu@k the internet does really does help people connect!

Three months ago SOMEBODY ordered 4,000 printed plastic bags from the Dongguan Shi Minlee Packaging Material Company (DSMPMC) in the province of Guangdong, China.

This order came to fruition thanks to the rather amazing Alibaba.com and the ever-friendly Kelly Tu of DSMPMC.

Kelly is a plastic bags sales guru. She knows her pantone colours and is clearly a bit of an office all-rounder!

She’s also a persistent cat. Twice a week for 5 weeks she emailed a shady hotmail account chasing one of the smallest sales China has ever known.

Her communications included such gems as;

“Kindly hope we can establish a long time and steady relationship with you and try our best to satisfy you.”

And even better;

“Weekend is coming. It is time to relax ourselves after a hard work, have a nice weekend!”

Indeed, in early September 2008 SOMEBODY took an enormous leap of faith in Superstar Kelly and transferred DSMPMC a whole lot of Benjamin$.

Yes, the bags arrived. And yes, DSPMPMC totally satisfied me!

So here’s 2 you, Kelly Tu!

I hope you have many relaxing weekends now and into the future!
